British Airways donated 10 laptops to IA-Foundation beneficiaries in Lagos, opening new doors to digital learning for out-of-school children returning to education.
From the Skies to the Classroom: British Airways Gifts 10 Laptops to IA-Foundation Beneficiaries
For a nine-year-old who has only ever seen a computer in pictures, sitting in front of one for the first time can feel like touching the future. That was the moment ten children in Lagos experienced on 15th July 2026, when British Airways donated ten brand-new laptops to beneficiaries of IA-Foundation, a gift that will carry them far beyond the classroom.

A Gift That Means More Than Hardware
At IA-Foundation, every child we work with is a child who was almost written out of the education story. Out-of-school, under-resourced, and often overlooked until someone decides they’re worth investing in. This time, that someone was British Airways.

The handover ceremony brought together the airline’s team and IA-Foundation’s own community: our Chairman, Mr Diran Famakinwa, staff, and the very children the laptops were made for. British Airways was represented by its Account Manager, Lady Peju Diya-Bodunrin, while IA-Foundation’s Admin Manager, Mr Matthew Akano, joined the Chairman in receiving the donation on behalf of the beneficiaries.
It wasn’t just a handover. It was a promise, that these children’s education won’t be limited by what they don’t have.
Why Laptops Matter for Out-of-School Children
Getting a child back into a classroom is only the first step. Keeping them there, engaged, and thriving takes tools, and increasingly, those tools are digital. Research, assignments, typing skills, and exposure to technology are no longer extras; they’re essentials for any child hoping to compete in today’s world.
For many of our beneficiaries, a personal laptop is the difference between falling behind and catching up. It opens access to:
- Digital learning resources and research
- Basic computer literacy, a skill many of their peers take for granted
- Confidence that they belong in classrooms and careers shaped by technology
Gratitude That Fuels the Mission
We are deeply grateful to British Airways for choosing to invest directly in the future of these children. Gestures like this remind us that IA-Foundation’s mission, returning out-of-school children in Nigeria to quality education is not one we carry alone. Corporate partners, individuals, and everyday well-wishers all have a place in this story.
Be Part of the Next Chapter
Every laptop donated, every school fee paid, every meal provided is a page in a bigger story, one where no child in Nigeria is left out of the classroom because of circumstances beyond their control.
